SSC CHSL Selection Process 2023-24 : all about you should be know, SSC CHSL stands for Staff Selection Commission - Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination commonly known as SSV CHSL exam. It is a national level examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for various posts in different government ministries, departments, and organizations.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for various posts such as 
  • Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretary Assistant (JSA)
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO)
  • Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant (PA/SA)
  • Data Entry Operator (Grade-A)
 in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India.

▶️ Eligibility Criteria :

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.

Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 27 years of age as on 1st January of the year of examination. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) examination or equivalent from a recognized board.

The examination is conducted once a year in three Tiers -

  • Tier 1
  • Tier 2
  • Tier 3

▶️Selection Process:

Tier 1: It is a computer-based test consisting of objective-type questions in English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.


Tier 2: It is a descriptive paper in English/Hindi that assesses the candidate's writing skills. The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.


Tier 3: It is a skill test or typing test conducted for candidates who qualify for Tier 2. The test is conducted to evaluate the candidate's typing speed and accuracy.


After the completion of all the tiers, a final merit list is prepared based on the candidate's performance in Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. The selected candidates are then appointed to various posts, such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant (PA/SA), etc.

The syllabus for the SSC CHSL exam includes the following topics:

General Intelligence: Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Space Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, and Figural Classification.

English Language: Spotting the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One-word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage & Comprehension Passage.

Quantitative Aptitude: Number Systems, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistical Charts, and Data Interpretation.

General Awareness: History, Geography, Culture, Economic Scene, General policy, Scientific Research, and Sports.

The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in three stages:

Tier I :

Computer Based Examination (Objective type): It consists of four sections - General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness, with 25 questions each, for a total of 100 questions. The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

Descriptive Paper (Pen and Paper mode): It consists of writing an essay of 200-250 words and a letter/application of 150-200 words in 60 minutes.

Tier III :

 Skill Test/Typing Test: Candidates who qualify the Tier II exam are required to undergo a skill test/typing test/date entry to determine their proficiency in the relevant field.

Only the Candidates, who are applying for JSA(Junior Secretariate Assistant) /LDC(Lower Division Clerk) and PA(Postal Assistant) /SA(Sorting Assistant) will be appear for Tier III exam.

Skill base Test : data entry -2000-2200 Stokes seed should be 8000 key depression in an hour. --
